Remember that song by Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz?" That song became my favorite since my younger years. It has been my mantra. It taught me if I dare dream, my dreams will come true someday.
Author Donald Ahrens, also one of the favorite author of my husband next to Dr. Deepak Chopra, in his text from the book "Meteorology Today" describes a rainbow as "one of the most spectacular light shows observed on Earth." Indeed the traditional rainbow is sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eyes of the observer by water droplets.
On Genesis Chapter 9, God made a covenant with Noah after the deluge. He promised Noah that there would be no more floods to destroy mankind. He set up a rainbow up in the sky as a token of the covenant between "Him and all flesh upon Earth."
Since then, the rainbow has been a symbol of peace, of Hope, of Love. I choose the rainbow as the title of my entry to give hope to my readers somehow. That in spite of all the problems in the world that we are experiencing, we must not lose hope. We can still find that "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow. When I say "pot of gold" it doesn't necessarily mean gold or money. It can also mean happiness or peace of mind.
Life on Earth is sometimes not rosy, not that easy so to speak. Every one of us has problems, one time or another in our lives. Well, who hasn't? Whether it be financial, for health reasons, personal relationships to loved ones, family and friends especially to our growing kids, job-related problems...you name it...life has it. No one is exempt. but we can rise above those problems. It is how we react to those problems that is the main thing. We have a choice.
HE has given us free will, so we can think what we want to think. We can think positively or we can think the opposite which is negatively. It's up to us. We have the capacity to solve our problems in our unique way without blaming others. It was WILLIAM JAMES, the great American philosopher who said : "The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind."
Every morning when we wake up, we may choose to make our day a happy and pleasant one by expecting good things to happen to us. By smiling and greeting everyone "good morning", we will begin the day with a bright spirit and everyone we greet will catch our mood and will be smiling too.
OR, we may pout and look sour, complaining about everything, from the wheather to what's happening in the world, from every word that comes out in a person's mouth that does not meet your expectation (as what i am experiencing from the other side of the world), and we can be sure that people around us will avoid us, as who wants to be with a person who has a negative attitude about everything in his/her sorroundings?
I remember a line from the poem by Ella Wheeler Cox...oh how would I ever forget the great poet, the very beautiful Ella Wheeler Cox! She is my all-time favorite. Her work on Poems of Passion is a novel of enduring interest. In her "Solitude" poem, it goes like this : "Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone." I think there is truth in this line. If you are happy, you seem to attract people and make them happy too. If you are sad, not many people will gravitate towards you, instead they will pull away from you. That poem of hers "Solitude" will forever linger in my mind for i have quoted this line for the nth time since i was in my college paper The Advocate & Ambon respectively.
According to Dr.Wayne W. Dyer, again my husband's favorite inspirational writer. He has lots of favorites i guess haha! Because my husband loves to read and may I inclined also that we both share the same passion. We love to read, read and read. We hang-out most of the time after work in Barnes and Nobles everywhere, checking what's old and what's new haha! Dr.Dyer quoted that whatever attitude you decide to adopt is precisely what you will attract to your life.
Despite the uncertainty of the events in our world...in our life...if we keep our cool, maintain our positive mental attitude, and above all, have full faith in the Creator, I am sure we will survive. Let us not forget the RAINBOW that HE has given us as a reminder of His covenant with us.
good post! this song reminds me of the movie face off! a boy listened to this song in the headphones as the FBI and terrorists had a fight.
